The Repertoire Study Program is available to Edge students who have achieved an intermediate or advanced level work who are aspiring to further their ballet education.
The Program will focus on the study of classical variations personally selected for the student. Classical variations are small pieces of solo material taken directly from a long established classical ballet, such as (but not limited to) Swan Lake, the sleeping Beauty, the Nutcracker, Giselle, La Bayadere, Paquita. The knowledge and practice of such material is a vital step to the development of physical strength, overall technical polish and presentation skills.
The experience of the repertoire program will directly aid in building dancers confidence and skill set required for auditioning for local and international summer schools and programs, university and post-secondary dance programs, as well as jobs in the field of dance upon graduation from school.
The Repertoire Study Programme will be offered first to select students of the Edge Studios Pre Professional Program who will use this program to supplement rehearsal time for major ballet competitions such as the Youth America Grand Prix, and World Ballet Arts Grand Prix. These select students are chosen by Edge School Dance Department directors by invitation only.
Rehearsals will be scheduled in half hour slots after Pre Professional Program classes finish during the week, and on Saturdays.
This program is by invitation/audition only.
